Small amount of progress
So I cleaned up the code a bit already, and I am trying to make some plans to handle the imported videos more efficiently by creating a video file class. Could be seen as early optimization, but it is basically not that much work so yeah. Another thing I’ve been working on is dividing the timeline work into separate smaller chunks to work on, hopefully this will help to make smooth progress. ^^
Nearly 8 years of YouTube
I did not realize it, but my first upload on my main channel was on ‘2015/12/02’. This means that in about 5 days I’ll have been doing YouTube for 8 years! I have learned a lot, but I am still not really great at making videos hahaha. I started youtube when I was planning to travel the world. I had everything planned out of how I could travel the world whilst earning an income, I was going to go on a small trip to Japan first to tip my toes into the travelling/backpacking waters and yeah …
Really like being in Japan and travelling around, but I met my wife a couple days before leaving and stayed in contact with her every single day, so when it was time to travel the world I booked my plane ticket to Japan, spent a lot of time with her, went to Bali next and felt that this world trip idea did not sound as good as spending more time with her. So I went to Japan 10 times in total in a span of 5 years before marrying her.
So my youtube channel which was supposed to be about me travelling the world, became a travel/Japan/Japanese-teaching channel hahah. Fast-forward to ‘2023/05/01’ and I started with VGJ in my attempt to start doing Youtube full time. This does not have much to do with GoZen development, but it’s something I felt like sharing with you guys. :p
Timeline
Next working point will be the timeline, which is another giant part of the editor which needs to work well. Today again, I tried editing videos and I get so annoyed by KdenLive bugs, luckily not as many crashes recently, but simple commands to go to the end of a clip don’t even work as it will go 6 frames before the end of the clip instead … Found out that it depends on how zoomed in on the timeline you are for that kind of a simple feature to work correctly …
So yeah, timeline is important and it should work smoothly and without stress/problems so we can put the Zen in GoZen
Conclusion
Lot’s of work left, but glad to say we are past the 50% marker of work which is done at this point! 🙂
I’ll spend the rest of the day in my bed to recover and hopefully my kid is also better by tomorrow ^^
